Kremlin welcomes Trump's latest remarks on Ukraine

Wednesday, 10 December 2025 —

The Kremlin has welcomed recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, particularly his claims about Russia's advantage on the battlefield in Ukraine and the impossibility of Ukraine joining NATO.

As reported by French international news agency AFP, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the journalists that Trump's latest comments are "very important" and largely align with Russia's view.

"In many ways, on the subject of NATO membership, on the subject of territories, on the subjects of how Ukraine is losing land, it is in tune with our understanding," Peskov said.

Trump has recently claimed that Russia is in a stronger negotiating position on ending the war in Ukraine.

Multiple officials told CNN that current US and European assessments show no new major developments on the battlefield or signs of Russia holding the upper hand, despite previous remarks by the US president.

Trump also claimed that "it was an understanding" that Ukraine "would not be going into NATO".
