Leaders of Germany, UK and France discuss paths to peace in Ukraine with Trump
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone call with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday 10 December to discuss ways to achieve peace in Ukraine.
Merz phoned Trump, Macron and Starmer.
"The four heads of state and government discussed the state of talks on a ceasefire in Ukraine. Intensive work on the peace plan is to continue in the coming days," German government spokesman Stefan Cornelius said.
Cornelius said the leaders agreed that this is "a decisive moment for Ukraine and for common security in the Euro-Atlantic area".
Earlier on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced new talks and meetings with partners this week, which may bring news regarding an end to the war.
On 9 December, Zelenskyy said that work is now complete on the Ukrainian and European proposals regarding the "peace plan" at the level of national security advisers and they are ready to be presented to the United States.
