Ukrainian parliamentarian denies Trump's claim that Zelenskyy has not read "peace plan"
Oleksandr Merezhko, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) Foreign Affairs Committee, has refuted US President Donald Trump's claim that his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy had not read the "peace plan" proposed by the US side.
The MP said in an interview with Sky News that he was "surprised to say the least" by the statements of the US president, since he knows that Zelenskyy is "very careful".
"He reads all the documents, especially such [a] crucial, important document as this peace proposal by President Trump, and I'm absolutely certain that he has acquainted himself with this plan [and] has read it," Merezhko said.
Trump earlier claimed that Russia had allegedly agreed to the "peace plan", while Zelenskyy had not read it.
In turn, Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, who has been holding talks with the US side in Miami, has stated that President Zelenskyy will be briefed in full about the meetings.
