Rheinmetall to send Lynx combat vehicles to Ukraine

Monday, 12 January 2026 —

Rheinmetall, one of Germany's largest defence companies, has announced that Ukraine will receive its first Lynx KF41 combat vehicles in early 2026.

The contract was signed in December 2025. The exact value is not disclosed, but Rheinmetall says that it is in the "mid double-digit million euro range".

The Lynx KF41 was selected after extensive testing of the next-generation combat vehicle. The vehicles are fitted with the two-man Lance turret and come in a configuration tailored to Ukraine's armed forces.

"We are grateful for the trust that Ukraine has placed in us. We would also like to thank the German government for its support. This order is a fundamental success that underscores our continued efforts to support Ukraine," Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger said.

The Lynx KF41 series is developed with current and future requirements in mind.

In October 2025, Rheinmetall announced the delivery of several more Skyranger 35 air defence systems to Ukraine, with funding provided from frozen Russian assets.

In December, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius announced plans to supply Ukraine with Sidewinder missiles to strengthen its air defence.
