Media: Zelenskyy to travel to Davos on Thursday to meet with Trump

Wednesday, 21 January 2026 —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will arrive at the World Economic Forum in Davos on 22 January to meet with US leader Donald Trump.

Axios reported that Zelenskyy plans to meet with Trump in Switzerland while White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner head to Moscow for talks with Russia's leader Vladimir Putin.

Both meetings will focus on discussions of the US "peace plan" to end the war in Ukraine.

The United States is said to be "close to a deal" with Ukraine on the plan's provisions, while Russia has yet to publicly agree to it.

The outlet said that Russia's continued refusal to accept the 20-point plan is one of the reasons the White House did not want to sign a "prosperity plan" for Ukraine during this week's World Economic Forum in Davos.

During his speech at the forum, US President Donald Trump said he would meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Davos. According to Trump, the meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn later clarified to journalists that as of 17:00 on Wednesday, Zelenskyy was in Kyiv.

On 20 January, Zelenskyy said that a meeting with the US side in Davos would require concrete results as a precondition.
