Zelenskyy's office confirms that he is en route to Davos

Thursday, 22 January 2026 —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has departed for the Swiss resort town of Davos, where the World Economic Forum is taking place, Dmytro Lytvyn, one of his advisers, has said.

"The president is currently on his way to Davos," Lytvyn said.

Earlier, US digital news outlet Axios reported that Zelenskyy was planning to meet with US President Donald Trump in Switzerland, while White House envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner would travel to Moscow to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Both meetings were expected to focus on discussing the US "peace plan" to end the war in Ukraine.

During his speech at the forum, Trump said he would meet Zelenskyy in Davos. He said the meeting was scheduled for Wednesday. However, as of 17:00 on Wednesday, Zelenskyy was still in Kyiv.

On 20 January, Zelenskyy said that a meeting with the American side in Davos should be contingent on concrete results.
