Polish president announces new meeting with Zelenskyy

Friday, 23 January 2026 —

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has said he intends to meet his Ukrainian counterpart, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"I will meet President Zelenskyy in another format. I think next weekend," Nawrocki said, as quoted by Polish TV channel Polsat News.

Nawrocki also noted that issues related to Ukraine and Russian attacks are important for Poland from a security perspective.

Meanwhile, Nawrocki added that he does not plan to visit Ukraine for the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion.

"As for the anniversary, I have no plans to go to Kyiv or to Ukraine," he said.

Zelenskyy visited Poland on 19 December, where he met with Nawrocki. The Polish president said at the time that national memory was one of the key issues in the talks between the presidents of Ukraine and Poland in Warsaw and that Poland hopes they will be resolved quickly.

Zelenskyy described his first bilateral meeting with his Polish counterpart as a good one.
