"The first generators from the Heat from Poland fundraiser are already being loaded for transportation to Kyiv. We thank every Polish woman and every Polish man for every zloty," the Ukrainian Embassy in Poland wrote on X.
The Heat from Poland fundraiser in support of Kyiv raised PLN 5 million in six days. Initially, the organisers aimed to raise funds for 100 generators and charging stations. However, the campaign quickly gained wide attention on Polish social media, the required amount was collected very fast, and the number of donations continued to grow. The target sum was later increased several times.
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha recorded a message in Polish thanking everyone who contributed to the fundraiser.
On 23 January, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that 379 electricity generators and 18 heaters from Poland's Government Agency for Strategic Reserves would arrive in Ukraine in the coming days.
