The US administration has hung a photograph of US President Donald Trump with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in the lobby of the White House.

According to Elizabeth Landers, a White House correspondent for PBS News, the photograph was taken on 15 August 2025 in Alaska, where Trump rolled out the red carpet for Putin.

On 15 August 2025, Trump and Putin met in Anchorage, Alaska, marking Trump's first meeting with Putin during his second term as US president. It was also the first encounter between a US president and Putin since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Trump warmly welcomed the Kremlin leader in Alaska, rolling out the red carpet for him, despite Russian forces continuing to commit war crimes in Ukraine on Putin's orders.

Media reports later said that during his meeting with Trump in Alaska on 15 August, Putin launched into a lengthy historical monologue that angered the US president, forcing him to raise his voice and even threaten to leave.
