Pentagon orders F-16 maintenance service, contract covers jets supplied to Ukraine

The US Department of Defense has signed a US$235 million contract for the maintenance of F-16 fighter jets that includes aircraft supplied to Ukraine.

The Pentagon has signed the contract with Belgian company Sabena Engineering.

The contract provides for the maintenance of F-16 aircraft and engines as well as support for managing technical and material logistics for Ukraine.

Work will be carried out in the city of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert in Belgium. Under the contract the work is due to be completed by 28 January 2029.

Media reported in May 2025 that Romania and the Netherlands plan to set up a joint centre to train Ukrainian technical personnel for the F-16 fighter jets.

Around the same time, the Ministry of Defence of the Netherlands announced the delivery of the last batch of 24 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.

In May 2025, the US State Department approved a US$310.5 million package for Ukraine that includes F-16 maintenance and training services.
