Ukraine's foreign minister says Russia deliberately struck US-owned plant in Dnipro

Monday, 5 January 2026 —

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has said that the Russian strike on a plant owned by the US company Bunge in the city of Dnipro was not accidental and stressed that Russia is systematically attacking American businesses in Ukraine.

Sybiha said that the targeted Russian strike seriously damaged a civilian sunflower oil production plant in Dnipro owned by the well-known US company Bunge.

"This attack was not a mistake – it was deliberate, as the Russians attempted to strike this facility multiple times," Sybiha wrote on X.

Sybiha added that Russia has systematically attacked American businesses in Ukraine. He recalled that last year, Russian strikes damaged Boeing offices in Kyiv, facilities belonging to a major US electronics manufacturer in Zakarpattia Oblast and other sites.

"Throughout the full-scale war, approximately half of US Chamber members in Ukraine saw damage or destruction to their facilities on various scales," he added.

Sybiha noted that attacks by Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin on "American businesses and American interests in Ukraine" demonstrate complete disregard for peace efforts led by US President Donald Trump.

"Moscow's refusal to reciprocate Ukraine's constructive steps towards peace must come at a cost and the Kremlin must feel that this cost is serious," he said.

On the night of 13-14 November, Russia carried out a large-scale attack on Ukrainian regions, damaging civilian infrastructure, among other targets.

Debris from an Iskander missile damaged the Embassy of Azerbaijan, after which Azerbaijan summoned the Russian ambassador.

In late September, a Russian missile damaged the Polish Embassy in Ukraine. The European Union Delegation in Ukraine was also damaged.
