Budanov on Paris talks: tangible results have been achieved

Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has spoken of "tangible results" after talks in Paris.

Budanov said on the morning of 7 January that talks in Paris are continuing in order to achieve a sustainable peace and reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.

"Not all details of these discussions can be made public at this stage; however, tangible results have already been achieved, and the work is ongoing", he said on X.

Budanov emphasised that "the national interests of Ukraine will be protected".

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that detailed discussions had taken place with the US team on monitoring potential violations of a peace agreement should one be concluded.

Adviser to President Donald Trump and his Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said that the American delegation will continue talks with the Ukrainian delegation on 7 January, following the Coalition of the Willing meeting in Paris.

The US delegation includes Witkoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, Alexus Grynkewich, Commander of the United States European Command, Charles Kushner, US Ambassador to France, and White House adviser Josh Gruenbaum.

Ukraine's side includes Budanov, Rustem Umierov, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council, General Andrii Hnatov, Serhii Kyslytsia, First Deputy Head of the Office of the President, and Oleksandr Bevz, an adviser at the President's Office.
