Orbán reveals Europe's path to victory: "Don't send the money to Ukraine"

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has told journalists that Europe's path to victory lies in ceasing financial support to Ukraine.

Orbán again called on the EU to halt financial aid to Ukraine.

"First, stop the war. War is bad for the business. Look for peace. Second, don't send your money to somebody else if you need it for your competitiveness. So don't send the money to Ukraine," said the Hungarian prime minister, responding to journalists' question about "the easiest win for Europe," Orbán said on the sidelines of an extraordinary EU leaders' summit.

"Third one, reduce and cut back as much as you can on the energy price. That's so simple," Orbán added.

Orbán claimed that Brussels and Kyiv had "declared war" on Hungary after Politico posted an article outlining plans for Ukraine's "accession in advance" to the EU.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Hungary is preparing to again complain about issues with the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.

On 27 January, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian ambassador in Budapest over alleged attempts by Kyiv to influence parliamentary election results in favour of the opposition party Tisza.
