Media: Witkoff to travel to Abu Dhabi for Ukraine-Russia talks

Monday, 2 February 2026 —

US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to attend the next round of talks between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on 4 and 5 February after a trip to Israel.

Barak Ravid, Global Affairs Correspondent for Axios, said Witkoff will arrive in Israel on 3 February and will then travel on to the United Arab Emirates.

According to the journalist, Witkoff will attend another round of talks with Russia and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on 4 and 5 February.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio earlier said that Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner would not attend the next round of talks with Russia and Ukraine, adding that there "might be" a US presence.

On 30 January, Trump once again said he sees a chance for successful negotiations to end the Russo-Ukrainian war.

On 31 January, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he does not know whether peace talks are at a final stage or if further work with multiple countries is still needed.

The first round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States and Russia in Abu Dhabi took place on 23 and 24 January, during which the teams discussed parameters for ending the Russo-Ukrainian war.
