Polish president: Ukraine can count on assitance. Where Muscovites are taking a beating, Poland helps

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has said in his speech marking the anniversary of his time in office that helping Ukraine, including in its fight against Russia, is in Warsaw's strategic interests, but that he believes Poland must stand firm on historical issues.

In the part of his speech concerning Ukraine, Nawrocki said he believes it is necessary to continue supporting Kyiv in its fight against Russian aggression, because Ukraine's success is in Poland's strategic interests.

"Poland's interest lies in Ukraine and the Ukrainian military coping as effectively as possible with the post-Soviet Russian Federation and keeping it as far away from Poland as possible. This is obvious, this is Poland's state strategy. Let them kill the Soviets who attacked them... In this, they can always count on our help, because where Muscovites are taking a beating, Poland helps, even if it is not directly taking part in the war. This is in Poland's strategic interests.

But it is also in Poland's strategic interests that Banderite flags do not fly either in Warsaw or anywhere in Poland. We can help and we can make demands; we can cooperate as partners and reach understanding on fundamental issues... We will help, but always with the words 'Poland first, Poles first'," Nawrocki said.

Zbigniew Bogucki, Head of the Chancellery of the President of Poland Karol Nawrocki, has called on Prime Minister Donald Tusk to "find the courage" to sign the decision formally stripping Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle, Poland's highest state honour.

Recent polls show that almost half of Poles view Nawrocki's activity on the international stage positively.
