The former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, believes in the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO in an accelerated process after the end of the war.

Klimkin called the fast-track NATO accession of Sweden and Finland a "cool" precedent. According to him, regardless of plans to join NATO, Ukraine will strive for the rule of law and develop institutions and democracy.

"Well, everything that concerns specifics, rearmament, NATO standards, I think it will practically come into effect. The preparation for the accession has practically already begun, you see," said the former minister in an interview with Radio NV.

To a clarifying question about whether Ukraine can join NATO in an accelerated process after, Klimkin replied that "we can talk about fast-track accession one hundred percent."

"Of course, during the war, NATO will not make any drastic moves... I think let's prepare for accession. And then, when the moment comes, everything will be just as lightning-fast. It's obvious to everyone," added the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to him, it is still difficult to predict when and under what conditions this will happen and "whether NATO countries will wait for the fall of Putin's regime."

The head of the British government, Boris Johnson, stated Ukraine did not have a chance to join NATO until February 24, 2022. Still, when Ukraine wins, it may get other security guarantee proposals, for example, NATO.
