Zelenskyy and Scholz Talk by Phone Ahead of G20 Summit

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz held a telephone conversation.

Zelenskyy noted on Twitter that he is in "constant contact" with Olaf Scholz.

"Informed about the course of hostilities, new Russia's strikes on civilians. Thanked Germany for great contribution to the defence of our sky and borders. Supported the continuation of the grain initiative and agreed on positions on the eve of G20," Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

In addition, the communique of the German side notes that the leaders discussed "specific measures to strengthen Ukraine's energy infrastructure and the continued German support to Ukraine with the current priorities in the areas of energy infrastructure and air defence."

As reported, the German government has decided to allocate an additional billion euros from its budget for 2023 to back Ukraine. The money will be used to protect against Russian cyberattacks and collect evidence of war crimes.
