The United States announced on Friday that it is providing $205 million in additional humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine as part of its support for those affected by the consequences of Russia's full-scale invasion.

As the US Department of State stated, humanitarian assistance provides the people of Ukraine with critical support, including food, safe drinking water, protection services, education, livelihoods, legal assistance, accessible shelter, health care, and more through our international and non-governmental partners in the region.

"These funds also help victims of the conflict maintain contact with family members who have been separated and promotes family reunification when possible," added the State Department.

Since February 2022, the United States has provided more than $2.1 billion in humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine, both inside Ukraine and in the region.

"We continue to call for an immediate end to Russia's war of aggression and for Russia to facilitate unhindered access to providers of humanitarian assistance in Ukraine and safe passage for those who seek to move to safer areas," the statement reads.

Last week, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) announced assistance to residents of the Kherson region, affected by flooding due to the blowing up of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station dam by Russia.
