Trump says war in Gaza can now be considered over

Monday, 13 October 2025 —

US President Donald Trump has answered affirmatively when asked whether the war in Gaza could now be considered officially over.

According to CNN, as Trump was walking through the Knesset building in Jerusalem, a journalist asked him whether the war was now "officially" over.

"Yes," Trump replied, reiterating his stance and previous comments that the ceasefire agreement he helped broker marks the final end of the conflict.

Earlier, Trump wrote a message in the visitors' book of the Israeli parliament: "This is my great honor – a great and beautiful day. A new beginning," the president wrote before signing his name.

Trump arrived in Israel as the country closely follows the process of releasing hostages held by the Hamas terrorist group.

On the morning of 13 October, Hamas released and handed over the first seven hostages to the Red Cross.

Later, the militants freed another 13, bringing the total to 20 hostages who had been held captive for more than two years.

The hostages are being released under a ceasefire agreement reached with the involvement of Trump's administration.
