Italian official came under Russian strike on UN humanitarian convoy in Kherson Oblast

Tuesday, 14 October 2025 —

A Russian FPV drone has attacked a UN humanitarian convoy near the village of Bilozerka in Kherson Oblast, and an Italian official who was accompanying the mission was also there at the time of the strike.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani condemned the strike on cargo from the UN World Food Programme and said that an Italian official was among the escorts but was unharmed.

"Attacks on civilians, hospitals and now humanitarian workers are unacceptable. Russia must cease the violence and start acting responsibly. My solidarity goes out to the UN, its staff and the Ukrainian people," Tajani wrote on X.

The attack was also condemned by Hadja Lahbib, European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported the incident and urged partners to increase pressure on Russia.

Lorries of the UN World Food Programme carrying food and other essential goods were hit by Russian FPV drones despite being clearly marked; two vehicles caught fire. No people were injured.

Earlier, Tajani said that Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine is unlikely to end before the end of this year.
