Airport in Lithuania closed after unknown drone spotted
The airport in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius suspended operations due to the appearance of an unknown drone on the morning of 5 November.
"Current data indicates that the temporary closure of the airport affected two flights... The impact on flights was minimal," Vilnius airport representative Tadas Vasiliauskas said, as quoted by Delfi.
It is noted that the airport had suspended operations from 09:50 to 10:18 local time.
On the evening of 30 October, Vilnius airport suspended operations due to the approach of balloons.
Lithuanian leaders described the intrusion of such balloons into Lithuania as a hybrid attack by Minsk.
As a result, Lithuania has closed its border with Belarus for a month to virtually everyone. The only exceptions are diplomats, Russians transiting to Kaliningrad Oblast and EU citizens returning to Lithuania from a neighbouring country.
Lithuanian airports and the country's state airport operator are seeking to take legal action for damage caused by the balloons.
