Czech President Petr Pavel visits Ukraine
As reported by Radio Prague International, Pavel began his third visit to Ukraine with a meeting with local officials in the city of Lviv. During the trip, he is expected to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In Lviv, the Czech president held a working lunch with Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of Lviv Oblast Military Administration, and with Nataliia Kalmykova, Ukraine's Minister for Veterans' Affairs.
Pavel also discussed possible forms of mutual defence assistance with Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Mishchenko, including protection against drones.
The newly appointed Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka arrived in Ukraine on 9 January, although his train to Kyiv was delayed due to the Russian attack on the night of 8-9 January.
He explained what prompted Czechia's new government to change its position on how the ammunition initiative for Ukraine should operate.
