Le Monde: Putin's envoy Dmitriev spotted in Paris, received at US Embassy
The French newspaper Le Monde has reported that Kirill Dmitriev, a Kremlin representative in talks with Washington regarding the Russo-Ukrainian war, was in Paris on 7 January.
A Le Monde source familiar with the matter told Le Monde that Dmitriev had been spotted on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.
The Élysée Palace denied reports that Dmitriev had visited the presidential palace the day after a meeting of leaders of the Coalition of the Willing had taken place in Paris on 6 January. That meeting was attended by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Le Monde said that Dmitriev had been received at the US Embassy in Paris, which is located near the Élysée Palace.
On 7 January, the Ukrainian delegation was still in Paris, holding meetings with the US team, as reported by Rustem Umierov, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council.
Umierov also said on 7 January that the Ukrainian team had held consultations with national security advisers from France, the UK, Germany, Italy, Poland and Türkiye, with the participation of the US, NATO, the European Commission and the European Council.
Zelenskyy, who was in Paris on 6 January, arrived in Cyprus on the morning of 7 January.
