Moldovan PM announces energy support for Ukraine during Kyiv visit

A shipment of humanitarian aid from Moldova, including electric generators and fire engines, is set to arrive in Kyiv on Tuesday 10 February, Moldovan Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has said during his ongoing visit to Ukraine.

As reported by, Interfax-Ukraine, during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Yuliia Svyrydenko, Munteanu said his cabinet has approved a package of humanitarian support for Ukraine.

"At a government meeting, we have approved a new package of humanitarian aid for Ukraine. The shipment will arrive in Kyiv today and includes fire engines, electric generators, protective equipment, medical supplies and food products," Munteanu said.

The Moldovan prime minister also condemned Russian attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, which have led to disruptions in electricity, heating and water supply.

"The Republic of Moldova strongly condemns the war being waged by the Russian Federation, including the daily large-scale attacks on cities and regions of Ukraine that result in the deaths of children, women and the elderly. We condemn all barbaric attacks targeting critical infrastructure that create intolerable living conditions for Ukrainian citizens," Munteanu told journalists.

Munteanu also stressed that he considers Ukraine's European integration an essential element of stability, security and the European future of the entire region.

On 10 February, Munteanu arrived in Kyiv on an official visit.

In autumn 2025, Moldovan President Maia Sandu officially appointed businessman Alexandru Munteanu as prime minister. Prior to that, he had lived in Ukraine for more than 20 years.
