A citizen from the border town of Hrubieszów has been found guilty and sentenced to three years and six months in prison in Poland for working for Russian intelligence.

As reported by Polish news portal RMF24, investigators reported that a fifty-year-old man, Paweł K. from Hrubieszów – a town near the border with Ukraine – expressed a desire to work for Russian military intelligence and collect information useful to them.

His tasks included collecting data on security at Rzeszów-Jasionka airport, which is a key logistics hub for supporting Ukraine and for international travel by Ukrainians during the war. These data could potentially have been used to plan an assassination attempt on Ukraine's top officials.

The man also expressed readiness to take part in a sabotage group and in a unit of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

The Zamość District Court found the man guilty of the charges and sentenced him to three years and six months in prison.

Recently, Poland issued a wanted notice for a former serviceman who acted in Russia's interests.

On 20 January, a trial began in a district court in Sosnowiec, Poland, of Russian citizens accused of espionage.
