Ukraine's Foreign Ministry launches "Hungarian Radio" not to comment on every Orbán's "absurd" statement

Thursday, 2 April 2026 —

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi has published a link to an evergreen Foreign Ministry comment on Hungarian statements, calling it "Hungarian Radio Ukraine".

Tykhyi shared a link to an audio recording titled "Hungarian Radio Ukraine", explaining that it is a universal comment from official Kyiv in response to anti-Ukrainian statements that continue to come from Budapest.

"Every day, Hungarian officials are making absurd statements about Ukraine. We are tired of reacting to each one and decided to post our position online in the form of a radio, accessible 24/7," Tykhyi wrote on X.

"We reject manipulations regarding Ukraine made on a regular basis by Prime Minister Orbán and his team. We condemn his consistent attempts to drag Ukraine into his domestic politics or election campaign.

Ukraine has never meant and does not mean any harm to neighbouring Hungary. We ask all Hungarians not to trust the toxic anti-Ukrainian propaganda coming from officials on a daily basis. We are doomed to be good neighbours, members of the EU and NATO, not of the 'Russian world'. Thank you for listening to the Hungarian Radio of Ukraine." [The "Russian world" or "Russkyi Mir" is the general idea of the superiority of Russian Orthodoxy, culture, language, etc., widely promoted by pro-Kremlin figures – ed.]  the audio recording states.

The same message is repeated in Ukrainian and Hungarian.

Hungary will hold parliamentary elections in 10 days, in which the ruling Fidesz party of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán risks losing power.

One poll published last week showed the Tisza party leading Fidesz by 23% among decided voters, while a pro-government analytical centre forecast a significant advantage for Orbán's party candidates in single-member constituencies.
