Zelenskyy: Three countries that will help Ukraine strengthen anti-ballistic defence

Tuesday, 9 June 2026 —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the UK, France and Germany (the E3 diplomatic format) will help Ukraine with anti-ballistic defence.

Zelenskyy expressed hope in an interview with The Guardian that the UK and Ukraine will be able to develop a European anti-ballistic defence system. "We are working on it. We need it, and the UK needs it," he said.

He also stressed that the E3 countries will help Ukraine strengthen its anti-ballistic capabilities.

Zelenskyy separately noted that during the meeting, which took place in the E3 diplomatic format, all sides agreed on the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia.

On 7 June, Zelenskyy also discussed Ukraine's needs in the war against Russia with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

On the same day, Zelenskyy briefed the leaders of the UK, France and Germany in London about the situation on the battlefield and Russian losses.

France will host the next meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris on 13-14 July.
