Danish Foreign Minister: Putin Is a Small Man. He Will Lose the War in Ukraine

Thursday, 1 September 2022

Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod said that Russia and Vladimir Putin will not win the Ukraine war and assured further support.

"Today, we will go to Bucha, where Russia's war crimes happened. It is simply impossible to imagine that one person can order to commit so many terrible crimes. Denmark will continue to investigate and record Russian crimes and show the world what Russia is doing here," Kofod said at a press conference in Kyiv.

"Putin and the Russian Federation will not win this war. They will lose it. He is a small man in both the literal and figurative sense. And hopes of a bloody miserable man stumbled onto the massive and inspired fighting of Ukrainians," the minister added.

Kofod mentioned that this week the Danish government approved the state budget for 2023, and financial aid for Ukraine occupies a leading position.

"We will back Ukraine for as long as it takes," the minister added.

Denmark has joined the UK-led initiative to train the Ukrainian military.

Finland, Sweden, Canada, Norway, the Netherlands, and New Zealand also announced their participation in the training of the Ukrainian military.

As previously reported, the EU member states will work to "define the parameters" of a collective mission to help train the Ukrainian army in fighting Russia's invasion.
