Latvia plans to continue medical assistance for wounded Ukrainian soldiers this year, reports LSM.

According to the Ministry of Health of Latvia, they plan to treat about 120 people this year.

The head of the Ministry, Līga Meņģelsone, met with microsurgeons Olaf Liebermans and Mārtiņš Malzubris to discuss the possibilities of reconstructive surgery in Latvian hospitals. These doctors have repeatedly operated on the wounded in Ukraine. She underlines that Latvia will continue to back the Ukrainian people. The country is helping war victims within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the two countries.

Following the consultations with the microsurgeons, the Minister is to discuss how to improve medical care in inpatient and rehabilitation institutions, the Ministry noted.

In 2022, 130 wounded were relocated to Latvia and provided with medical care at the Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital and the Vaivari National Rehabilitation Center.
