Lithuania's Defence Minister Announces New Assistance Package for Ukraine

Lithuanian Defenсe Minister Arvydas Anušauskas met with the First Deputy Defenсe Minister of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk, who arrived in Lithuania on Monday.

According to the press service of the Lithuanian Defence Ministry, Pavliuk told the Lithuanian side about Ukraine's experience in integrating paramilitary structures into the Armed Forces.

"The lessons learned in Ukraine helps us develop our military capabilities in a purposive manner. We also strongly stand by the position to support Ukraine in every way we can as the next assistance package is already in the making," said Anušauskas at the meeting.

The minister also underlines that Lithuania is actively preparing for the NATO summit in Vilnius this summer, where NATO membership prospects for Ukraine will be placed among the other critical agenda points.

As the Ministry of Defence of Lithuania reminds, so far, Lithuania has sent nearly EUR 409 million worth of military assistance to Ukraine, and the next package of assistance is being formed already.

In 2023, the Lithuanian side plans to train 1,600 of Ukrainian troops. Lithuanian military instructors are providing assistance both, at national level and within the framework of the EU Training Mission and international initiatives, such as the British Interflex.

As reported, Lithuania announced 36 Swedish L-70 anti-drone guns for Ukraine in early February. The first batch and ammunition are already in Ukraine.
