Dutch Minister of Defence Confident in Backing Ukraine Even after Elections

The Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, asserts that there is a broad consensus in her country regarding the support for Ukraine.

"Even after our political crisis that led to a decision to have new elections, the government supported by the Parliament declared that elections will not affect our support for Ukraine," Ollongren stated in an interview with European Pravda.

According to her, there are over 20 parties, and only a few of them do not support assistance to Ukraine. But a very broad spectrum supports this.

"Of course, as a democratic country, we have to wait for the vote and for the outcome, but I'm quite certain that it will not change our attitude towards Ukraine," she added.

In early July, Mark Rutte, the long-serving Prime Minister of the Netherlands, resigned and unexpectedly decided to leave politics. One of the key reasons for the coalition's breakdown was disagreements among parties about how to strengthen migration control.

Rutte stated that he won't put forward his candidacy for a fifth term and will quit politics after the parliamentary elections in November.
