Friday, 25 August 2023

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, is currently in Kyiv on an official visit.

A photo of the meeting between the minister and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was published by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Later, Zelenskyy detailed that the meeting discussed the "peace formula" and the preparation for the Global Peace Summit, as well as the risks associated with Russia's blockade of the Black Sea grain corridor.

Information about Hakan Fidan's visit was unofficially known in advance.

Earlier this week, the Chief Advisor to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Akif Çağatay Kılıç, visited Kyiv and participated in the Crimea Platform Summit.

Erdoğan previously announced that Fidan might soon visit Russia for negotiations.

Media reports also indicated that Erdoğan might meet with President Putin in Russia, initially expected in Ankara.

On 17 July, Russia announced the termination of the grain deal and threatened "risks'' to the parties that would decide to continue the initiative without Russia's participation. In addition, Moscow began massive attacks on the port infrastructure of Odesa and the Danube ports.
