Lloyd Austin, Minister of Defence of the US, has met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, in Kyiv.

Austin stated that this meeting became another opportunity to "reaffirm the United States’ steadfast support for Ukraine".

"I was honoured to meet with President Zelenskyy in Kyiv today to reaffirm the United States’ steadfast support for Ukraine. We, along with our allies and partners, will continue to support Ukraine’s urgent battlefield needs and long-term defence requirements," he wrote on Twitter.

Lloyd Austin arrived in Kyiv early on 20 November with an unannounced visit.

The United States Secretary of Defence is expected to bring up the provision of the Ukrainian army for the winter period and the future of Russian threats.
