Ukraine Should Prepare for Increased Fighting and Missile Attacks by Russia – Stoltenberg

Tuesday, 28 November 2023

Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of NATO, commenting on the state of the war in Ukraine, said that it is necessary to prepare for increased hostilities and missile attacks by Russia.

At the meeting of foreign ministers of NATO countries in Brussels on 28 November, the Secretary General of the Alliance noted that the front line in Ukraine currently sees intense fighting.

In addition, "we have seen waves of drone attacks on Ukrainian cities," he added.

"We need to prepare for increased fighting and increased aerial missile attacks on Ukrainian cities. NATO allies’ support for Ukraine is even more important now," he said.

Stoltenberg welcomed the recent announcements of aid to Ukraine by NATO member states, in particular Germany, the Netherlands and Romania.

On 28 November, Stoltenberg stated that he was confident that the allies would continue to provide Ukraine with significant amounts of military aid.

He also explained why it is not right to talk about the lack of military successes of Ukraine in the 2023 campaign, although the contact line is barely moving.
