Kyiv to receive two mini combined heat and power plants from Germany
The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), a German government institution that provides international technical assistance, is set to provide Kyiv with two cogeneration units to help alleviate the energy crisis caused by Russian strikes.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Facebook that an agreement has been reached with GIZ to deliver two cogeneration units to Kyiv.
He also said the units are due to arrive in Kyiv next week.
"I thank our German partners for their help at such a difficult time for Kyiv, when our city is living and functioning in a crisis situation," he wrote.
Klitschko added that Kyiv already has five cogeneration units installed. Two are currently operating, supplying critical infrastructure facilities, while three more are being prepared for launch.
Azerbaijan has sent Ukraine five transformers, generators and other equipment for energy needs.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has released a list of assistance provided by Kyiv's partners in January.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha urged people around the world to organise fundraising to support Ukrainians through a harsh winter and the ongoing damage to the energy system, as has been done in Poland.
