Hungarian government names condition for Magyar-Zelenskyy meeting
The Hungarian government has outlined the condition under which Prime Minister Péter Magyar would meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, including to discuss the situation of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine.
"A personal meeting between Péter Magyar and Volodymyr Zelenskyy is possible if Ukraine fulfils the demands of the Hungarian side regarding the settlement of the situation of the Hungarian minority in Ukraine," a spokesperson for the Hungarian government said, as quoted Euronews.
They added that technical negotiations on the issue are ongoing and that the possibility of a high-level meeting would arise if progress is achieved in those talks.
Over the past two weeks, the Hungarian government has repeatedly referred to a possible meeting between Magyar and Zelenskyy. The Hungarian prime minister has proposed Berehove in Zakarpattia Oblast as a possible venue for the meeting.
Earlier, it was reported that Magyar wants greater rights for the Hungarian minority in Ukraine before unblocking Kyiv's progress towards the European Union.
