Drone believed to be Russian recovered from water near Polish beach

A drone believed to be of Russian origin has been recovered from the water near a beach in Poland's West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

The drone was found the day after Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Russia's escalation has become a fact and that serious attacks on Polish territory cannot be ruled out.

"Military personnel have discovered and recovered a drone from the waters of the Baltic Sea near the beach in the village of Rusinowo, close to Jarosławiec. An initial inspection suggests this is a military drone of Russian origin," Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on X.

Kosiniak-Kamysz said the appropriate services are securing the site and the recovered equipment.

On 13 September, a petrol station near the Yahodyn-Dorohusk border crossing came under Russian attack, and a locomotive of a train belonging to the state-run railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), stationed 2 km from the border, was also hit. Shortly before the strikes, a train carrying Western politicians crossed the border along the very same route.

Tusk has said the coming weeks and months will see very intense Russian activity and that more serious attacks on Polish territory cannot be ruled out.
