Moldova reveals new details regarding drone explosion incident

The Moldovan Police General Inspectorate has released new details regarding a drone explosion on Moldovan territory on the morning of 30 September.

According to Moldova's General Inspectorate of Police on Telegram, the drone exploded at an altitude of 40 m above the ground after striking a telecommunications mast. A 12 m section of the antenna structure showed signs of an explosion, including metal deformation and thermal damage.

Furthermore, several pieces of debris from the unmanned aerial vehicle – including structural elements, control systems, power supply systems and propulsion units – were found within a radius of approximately 265 m.

Law enforcement officials emphasised that the incident did not disrupt communication services.

Police technical and bomb disposal experts are currently conducting a detailed site inspection at the site of the drone explosion.

On the evening of 26 September, Moldovan border guards discovered debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle outside the village of Volintiri in Ștefan Vodă District.

On 18 September, Moldovan police found drone debris in a suburb of the capital Chișinău.
