Le Pen willing to visit Ukraine to discuss aid with Zelenskyy if invited

Friday, 16 October 2026 —

Marine Le Pen, the National Rally's candidate for the French presidency who plans to halt financial support for Kyiv if she wins the election, is willing to visit Ukraine to discuss the issue with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

As reported by CNews, Le Pen said she is open to discussion, although she reiterated that France can no longer afford to provide financial assistance to Ukraine.

"I have nothing personal against Mr Zelenskyy and, besides, we can certainly discuss this issue whenever he wishes," Le Pen said.

When asked whether she is willing to travel to Ukraine for the talks, Le Pen replied: "If I am invited."

"If Mr Zelenskyy wants us to discuss this, I will gladly come to Ukraine. But I want to tell him that we no longer have the financial means to provide aid, which has cost us €6 billion a year up to now. I am sorry to say this. I wish I were able to provide financial assistance to Ukraine," Le Pen said.

She also confirmed that she does not plan to cancel military aid to Ukraine if she wins the election: "We will, incidentally, continue to provide military assistance, possibly in the form of equipment."

Zelenskyy responded to Le Pen by saying that Ukraine's partners are helping the country become stronger and that Ukraine, in turn, would provide security to someone thanks to its experience.
