EU Top Diplomat Commented on Drone Attack on Kremlin and Calls to Eliminate Zelenskyy

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has urged Russia not to use the alleged drone attack on the Kremlin as an excuse for further escalation of the war.

"I know about it. I saw the news. I heard President Zelenskyy. And President Zelenskyy stated very clearly that Ukraine is not involved in these attacks," Borrell said before the meeting of the heads of foreign affairs of the EU countries in Brussels, stressing that the Ukrainian military defends its country and fights on its territory.

"We urge Russia not to use this alleged attack as an excuse to continue escalating the war," he said.

According to him, these strikes could become a reason for the mobilisation of more troops and more attacks against Ukraine.

"The most important thing is that we should continue to support Ukraine militarily, politically and economically. The best war settlement would be for Russia to stop it and withdraw all Russian troops from Ukraine," said the EU's chief diplomat.

Earlier, the Kremlin's press service said that Ukrainian drones had "attempted to launch an attack" on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. The Kremlin called the attack a "planned terrorist action" and "an attempt on the life of the Russian president". Serhii Nykyforov, President Zelenskyy's spokesman, said that Ukraine had no information about the alleged night attacks on the Kremlin.

Following the attack, Medvedev called for the "physical elimination" of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his entourage.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in the context of this attack that he would take everything coming out of the Kremlin "with a very large shaker of salt".

French Foreign Minister, expressed concern over Russian Security Council Secretary Dmitry Medvedev's calls for the assassination of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a drone attack on the Kremlin.
