Polish PM Tusk on Russian missile: Poland wasn't intended target

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, commenting on the incident involving a Russian missile that crashed in the Lublin Voivodeship, said there are no grounds to believe that Poland was the intended target.

As reported by Polish news portal RMF24, Tusk visited the site where the object which had violated Polish airspace came down. He confirmed earlier reports that it was most likely a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile.

"There are no grounds to believe that Poland was the intended target," he said.

Tusk also added that "Russia will do everything possible to avoid responsibility."

He said that the US is interested in participating in the investigation into the overnight violation of Polish airspace.

"It is important to me that what happened in the past is not repeated. Everything must be transparent, and people must be fully informed. This war is full of surprises. We must learn to respond very quickly to new situations and new threats," the Polish prime minister added.

Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that the object that fell in Poland was indeed a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile.

On the morning of 30 July, Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that the country's air defence had endured an "extremely difficult night."
