Thursday, 15 October 2026 —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Brussels with his team to attend a European Council meeting and hold talks with partners.

Zelenskyy said he is scheduled to meet the NATO secretary general, the president of France and the prime ministers of Poland, Denmark and Belgium. He is also due to have an audience with King Philippe of Belgium.

The Ukrainian president noted that on 16 October he is scheduled to meet the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, as well as the prime ministers of Hungary, Finland and Sweden.

"All of us in Europe want this war to end. And for that to happen, strong signals are needed – more real pressure on Russia and more defence support for Ukraine. It is especially important now to act together to protect lives," Zelenskyy wrote on X.

Earlier, Kyiv said that the time and location need to be agreed for a full-scale meeting between Zelenskyy and Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar.

Magyar said he will discuss the "historic success" in changing relations between the two countries with the Ukrainian president but stressed that the meeting will be brief.
