The Lithuanian Ministry of Defence has issued an air-raid warning in several parts of the country after a drone was detected in airspace near the border.

According to the Lithuanian Defence Ministry, the drone was likely approaching from Belarus.

"NATO Baltic Air Policing has been activated," the ministry added.

On the morning of 19 May, several regions of Latvia were warned about a possible threat in the airspace.

A day earlier, a Romanian fighter jet shot down an attack drone in Estonia's airspace after an air-raid warning had been issued in part of the country. It marked the first known interception of a drone over Estonian territory.

NATO welcomed the downing of the drone that violated Estonia's airspace on 19 May.
